What is ZTE?
It is an acronym for 'Zhong xing Telecommunications Equipment Company Limited' - a public traded company based in China that provides telecommunications equipment and network solutions.
The services of this company may give benefits to our country in terms of improving the systems in communications in many ways. It may help the country by means of rendering services at a low cost.
Because of the benefits that we can get, some public officials or should i say ,the government made a deal with the ZTE without the prior knowledge of many Filipinos. There was no public bidding regarding this matter . The decision was made by few. The original cotract was missing which came under suspicion . A different contract and papers were showed in which some of the informations were changed including the price which was increased and the people involved in the deal will eventually receive a kickback. Because of the scandal, the government did not continue the deal with the ZTE .
A famous star witness, Mr. Rodolfo 'jun' lozada Jr. has something to say about the controversy which petrified some onvolved politicians. He has many supporters from different sectors who would like to reveal the truth- the chronic problem of corruption in the administration. Though some don't believe in the accusations against the administration, many are saying that 'If there's smoke, there's fire' and that's very true -that's why there is an on-going investigation on this issue.
I'm very sad because most of the government officials are corrupt. They were considered as achievers but they are not practicing what is right. They were labeled as public servants but the truth is they are the ones who are plaguing the country.
How can we identify and kill the Roots of corruption in the government?
Let us not lose hope, instead let's HELP... by means of becoming strong citizen who are willing to change the system, it doesn't mean to participate in rallies but make a change in ourselves - that is becoming Honest even in small ways and let's pray a lot...
